National Seaweed Industry Research, Development and Extension Blueprint

The project will clearly identify and define an accelerated and tangible pathway for Governments, investors and industry to deliver a $10m per annum industry from National Seaweed by 2025. It lays the foundations for the formation of the National Seaweed Industry Cluster by engaging key players in a strategic planning workshop, analysis and modelling to develop the National Seaweed Industry Strategic Plan. It will develop an Australian National Seaweed Industry Blueprint consisting of a RD&E Strategic Plan and a clear plan of action for investment and ecosystem services. Key activities include: (i) Engaging stakeholder key representatives in a workshop to determine opportunities for growth and priority RD&E; (ii) Verifying economic, social and environmental opportunities for the industry; (iii) Identifying gaps and barriers to industry development; (iv) Identifying seaweed RD&E needs and prioritise these with key recommendations for investors; (v) Empowering the development of a cluster group to influence and guide future industry development; and (vi) Define a clear action plan for industry development.
