National biosecurity and disease extension and coordination and CQ regional extension

This investment supports delivery of extension and adoption priorities for cotton production in central Queensland (CQ) as part of the broader CottonInfo extension campaigns each season.

The investment will also focus on:

  1. Collection of benchmarking data for crops planted between August and December for analysis and validation as a tactic for mitigating future climatic risk.
  2. Collecting data on Helicoverpa spp. ecology in CQ relating to Bt cotton use, refuges and other host crops in the farming system.

This will enable informed decision making when assessing the likelihood of Bt resistance in CQ.
