Investigating the corrosivity of evaporator condensates and the contributing factors

The move towards improved steam efficiency in sugar mills has resulted in increasingly high corrosion rates in condensates at the tail end of the evaporator set. This project aims to measure the corrosion rates in four sugar factories, develop mathematical models which can predict the lifespan of evaporators, and make recomendations on how to mitigate corrosion in evaporators.
