Increasing the value of Australian honey as a health food

Gut microbes are recognised as playing a crucial role in health and disease and manipulating the balance of gut microbes through consumption of prebiotic foods to promote a 'healthy' gut is gaining significant interest in health, scientific and medical spheres. Preliminary studies suggests that honey from some Australian eucalypt species has a positive impact on human gut health. This investment seeks to establish rigorous evidence for the impact of Australian eucalypt honeys as a prebiotic to influence gut microbe composition and promote digestive health.
