Hazelnut growth through the Implementation of the 2030 Strategic Blueprint

The hazelnut industry is emerging in Australia with approximately 350 tonnes produced in Australia by local growers. In contrast, 4,000 tonnes of hazelnuts are imported each year. This investment establishes Hazelnut Information and Technology groups in the major production states of New South Wales, Victoria South Australia and Tasmania to implement the Hazelnut Industry Strategic Framework (2030) detailing the requirements for research on cultivars and rootstocks, supply systems for planting material, targets for orchard establishment, biosecurity and agronomy, facilities required for harvest, grading, storage processing, distribution (including export), marketing and representation at national and international levels.
