Engagement for Success: evaluation of engagement events to inform industry management strategies

Community trust and support for fisheries are crucial to both the wellbeing of industry members and securing access to resources. Many industry groups are not confident in investing in community engagement activities when funds are scarce. To date limited evaluation has been undertaken by industry of community engagement activities, due in part to the lack of clear evaluation frameworks and accessible tools for planning, conducting and using evaluation to strengthen community engagement. This investment will design and pilot a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework and toolkit for fisheries community engagement. The M&E Framework will support a more systematic approach to industry evaluation and generate useful information to support industry decision-making by clearly articulating priority outcomes.
