Development of AWI Smart Tags
This investment aims to develop low cost, on-animal sensors (smart tags) to remotely monitor sheep. Smart tags may be solar ear tags for use on sheep over several years on the sheep, or a battery powered collar tag that would be used temporarily on lambs. Smart tags would allow more informed management decisions relating to a range of factors including animal health, wild dog alerts, grazing optimisation and reproduction management. Regardless of the intended use, the tags must be flexible, configurable, robust and cost effective.
