Custom training and technical support for the fishery stock assessment software ‘stock synthesis’

To conduct more stock assessments of finfish, Fisheries Queensland and the SFS expert panel have directed Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries scientists to investigate the use of off-the-shelf stock-assessment models. This investment will train State agency staff in using the stock assessment software ‘stock synthesis’, which is used by other organisations such as CSIRO. The stock synthesis training will help build stock assessment systems and help support similar national needs across Australia.
