CottonInfo Field Demonstration Trial: Native vegetation long term monitoring sites

This project supported the CottonInfo team to run a series of in-field trials to demonstrate research outcomes to growers.

In the 2020–21 financial year, four trials were undertaken:

  1. In the southern valleys to encourage the use of cover crops for optimised farming systems

  2. Across the Darling Downs, St George/Dirranbandi, northern New South Wales and Macquarie Valleys to provide information to assist in improving irrigation application efficiency through a series of practical on-farm demonstrations

  3. Across all valleys to demonstrate management practice impact on riparian and floodplain ecosystems, and

  4. Across all valleys to examine the impact of different levels of fruit retention on subsequent yield potential and maturity for high yielding cotton. All trials are directly linked to the relevant research project.
