Carbon Initiative Objective 3 - Market development pathways for producers.

The transition to net zero emissions targets by a number of global economies represents both a threat and opportunity for Australia’s agriculture sector. There are huge opportunities to reduce emissions across the value chain, which will increase competitiveness and reduce exposure to potential carbon penalties imposed by both consumer preferences and mandatory policy drivers. The purpose of this project is to give Australia’s producers the tools they need to future proof revenue and increase their competitiveness through the global journey to decarbonisation. The project exists to arm producers and other stakeholders across the value chain with a summary of changing global policy, industry and consumer trends, along with actionable change strategies of how to overcome the threats and harness the opportunities that these trends will drive.  The change strategies created under this project will support the Australian agriculture sector’s huge potential to firm up its position in international markets. The strategies will support exporters to not only defend their position in global markets – but to extend this position and access market share from competing countries that are slow to transition and will ultimately pay a penalty for their emissions intensity.
