Bush Fire Recovery: Bushfire Recovery
AWI created the Bushfire Recovery Project to assist woolgrowers and landholders following the summer bushfires of 2019-20. Protecting remaining stock from predation is fundamental to giving producers any chance of recovery. Along with Vertebrate Pest Researchers and the Wild Dog Coordinators, AWI sees a unique opportunity to make large gains in feral pest control in the bushfire affected regions across eastern Australia, as these pest species are currently particularly vulnerable. This project provides funding assistance to State Government Departments including PIRSA in South Australia, DELWP in Vic and the NSW LLS to purchase and where necessary, deploy baits in their autumn 2020 program.
