Building faster and improved genetic evaluation tools and systems
This project will further amplify the cumulative and permanent genetic gains in the Australian red meat industry, investing in genetic evaluation of new traits such as methane output and novel measures of animal welfare and resilience, along with more specific measures of consumer acceptance and nutritional value traits.
Commercial producers and red meat value chains will benefit from new approaches to utilising genomic data that will enable multi-breed predictions, including methods for continuous evaluation with instant feedback for genotype-only data.
