Alternative Protein: Opportunities and Challenges for Australian Agriculture

This report considers the opportunities and challenges for alternative proteins as substitutes for animal protein in Australian agriculture. Although animal proteins currently make up a large part of consumers' diets its production is under more community scrutiny than ever before. Social licence issues concerning livestock's contribution to climate change and shifting animal welfare expectations are institutional risks driving industry change.
