A soil investment strategy for livestock grazing systems.
MLA is seeking to develop an Investment strategy for soil-related research, development, extension, and adoption (RDE&A) to guide future investment priorities and provide sustainability and productivity benefits for red meat producers. The development of this conceptual framework will inform future priorities for soil investment and industry impact and will proceed in a phased manner. This program will deliver:
1) Define a set of soil indicators to measure and monitor soil health in different livestock production systems, bioclimatic zones and for reporting within the Beef/Sheep Sustainability Frameworks,
2) A scoping study to provide the evidence and supporting information to assist MLA to make effective funding and resourcing decisions in soil related RDE&A, and
3) In collaboration with MLA managers develop a logic framework and investment strategy which aligns with the objectives in the MLA Strategic Plan 2025 and the 'Our Environment" pillar in Red Meat 20250.
