Goterra is an Australian climate tech company disrupting food waste management for the benefit of the planet.
Goterra has developed and deployed a proprietary robotic, software, and insect solution to create high-value fertiliser and insect protein from food waste at scale, with an ultimate goal of becoming the global leader in the management of organic food waste and preventing food waste from contributing to climate change.
Food waste is hugely problematic, and is the third largest contributor of methane emissions globally, making up 8% of global GHG emissions. To combat this, Goterra has designed Modular Infrastructure for Biological services - or MIBs - to manage food waste closest to its origin.
The Goterra MIBs solution contributes to agrifood research and development by supplying insect protein and frass to various private and academic R&D organisations in order to analyse their nutritional profiles and potential benefits as livestock feed and soil fertiliser respectively.
In terms of innovation, the Goterra MIBs solution is the first in the world to integrate Black Soldier Fly larvae with proprietary robotics and software in order to create a scalable solution to the food waste crisis that can be deployed worldwide. Goterra MIBs are already deployed in NSW, ACT, and Victoria to be followed soon by our first deployment in Queensland later this year.
