Economic Participation of Indigenous Communities Cooperative Research Centre (EPIC CRC)

The Economic Participation of Indigenous Communities Cooperative Research Centre (EPIC CRC) is a co-led initiative by Indigenous and non-Indigenous people from industry and research to develop innovation, access, benefit sharing, knowledge protection and business growth.

The aim of EPIC CRC is to enhance the ability of Australian Indigenous peoples to participate more fully and equitably in the Australian economy.

EPIC CRC‘s Research Programs will focus on three industry sectors:

  • First Food,Fisheries and Botanicals Industries;
  • Service Industries, with an initial focus on Indigenous tourism; and
  • Green Industries, which will include renewables and mining/minerals.

A fourth Research Program, Sector Transformation, will focus on policies and systems to enable and support activities undertaken in the other three programs.

EPIC CRC has submitted a stage one bid and is progressing the bid whilst awaiting stage two announcements, which are expected in December 2021. We are actively seeking partners to join the bid and work with us on developing the industry-focused research program.
