BirdSol: Investment Opportunity for CherrpĀ® AI Bird Deterrent Technology

Opportunity for
- High-net-worth individuals
- Investment funds
- Strategic investors who have an agricultural background and who are interested in commercialising new technology
Opportunity description
Industry challenge:
Bird damage is a significant problem in Australia with total market size for agriculture, aquaculture, and public and private infrastructure at well over $1billion, with productive horticultural damage estimated at over $300 million annually. Over 60 bird species are known to damage horticultural crops.
Current solutions to bird management in agriculture and aquaculture, such as netting, slaughter, boom guns and laser technology are ineffective, unethical, costly and unsustainable. On average, across all productive horticulture, birds can cause between 30% to 40% crop loss.
By successfully resolving bird damage in agriculture, farmers can increase crop yield facilitating greater output of crop, growing farm value of crops and contributing positively to global food security. BirdSol just completed the installation of the CherrpĀ® solution at Murray Bridge Council in SA, to displace 14,785 Corellas from the existing protected Murray Bridge areas and relocate them to the alternative feeding, roosting and recreational location (AFRRL) created in the Swanport Wetlands. The installation achieved a 98% effectiveness outcome.
We are also in advanced discussions with a number of companies, including Almond producers, grain bulk handlers, pecan producers, grain producers and a Barramundi Fish Farm in the NT, that are struggling to resolve bird damage to crops, to stored grains and to their produce.
Current opportunity:
BirdSol is currently seeking a minimum of $3m to commercialise its CherrpĀ® technology solution and achieve the following strategic objectives:
- Convert immediate customer opportunities into revenue
- Expand essential infrastructure needed to grow the business
- Scale up assembly and manufacturing capability to cater for market demand
- Investigate licensing and distribution channels internationally.
Opportunity background
The CherrpĀ® technology is an AI-powered, bird deterrent solution, which recognises birds by target species using both visual and audible detection systems, communicates to them in their own languages, moving them away from protected locations to alternate feeding sites. Machine vision is used to identify a particular targeted bird species and then advanced AI algorithms are used to select contextual bio-acoustic sounds, which are played to the birds, in their own species-specific language, communicating signals that either repel or attract birds.
Potential other applications:
The CherrpĀ® technology is currently focussed on the deterrent and management of birds causing damage in agriculture, aquaculture, and regional council protected sites. The CherrpĀ® technology can also be applied to deterring bats, rodents, and kangaroos. Furthermore, the technology can also be applied to deterring birds in other industry sectors including grain storage, mining, airports, golf courses, sports fields, public parks and wind farms.
