Yarta: a central platform reimagining physical commodity trading, financing and hedging in Australia and North America - Investment opportunity
- Yarta is seeking an investment round of $1m sourced from strategic angel and venture capital investors to support the scaling of technology for Yarta platform and hardware in grains and livestock sectors in Australia and North America (Canada, US, and Mexico)
- Investors who are interested in robotics, artificial intelligence, trading, financing, and big data.
- Strategic partners across various agricultural sectors seeking an innovative trading platform to streamline trading decision-making and execution and post-trade logistics.
Industry challenge: The process of trading, financing, and hedging commodities has barely changed in the last 30 years. Big data is changing the game. Those who can harness the power of big data and AI to inform and forecast have an undeniable edge in navigating commodity markets that are increasingly complex, financialised, and volatile.
The physical trading process for many sectors is still very rudimentary across email, phone, or fax. Handling post-trade logistics to facilitate the movement of commodities is an incredibly fragmented, labour intensive, error-prone, and inefficient process.
For many, deciding when to buy or sell a commodity to optimise for price is a process that sends shivers down the back, put in the too hard basket, or completed from a subjective gut feel rather than an informed position of strength with a mountain of objective supporting evidence.
Yarta has developed a central platform to provide agency to the trader to streamline and improve their key decisions and workflow, bolstering their bottom line and freeing up their time for high-value work.
Current opportunity: Yarta is seeking $2-3M (USD) to support the development of a series of products and a go-to-market strategy in two regions where it has deep networks; Australia and North America.
Yarta is fast approaching the launch of the Yarta Block Platform. This is designed for the commodity trading pro to negotiate bespoke deals with approved counterparties and execute swiftly whilst minimising market impact and streamlining logistics.
Yarta’s roadmap is a series of products to create a circular ecosystem for farmers and traders to trade, finance, and hedge on their terms.
First, The Yarta livestock trading and logistics platform is being built in partnership with several of the largest United States meat packers and hog and cattle producers.
Secondly, the roadmap features a big data and AI-driven roboadvisor to elevate traders' and farmers' decision-making as to when they should buy and sell commodities.
Thirdly, Yarta is prototyping a robot to automate the testing of grain using AI. This work is currently slated to begin with a major Australian university. The device has the ability to reshape how the industry finances grain on farms and creates a new pathway for farmers to sell grain stored on their farms via our marketplace.
Potential other applications
Yarta is building a high-performance commodity trading platform that reimagines how global commodities can be traded, financed, and hedged.
What is clear today is that many are being left behind when making decisions to trade, finance, or hedge that limits bottom line growth potential and increases underlying risks for their business.
Our background trading on behalf of some of the largest institutional investors in the world at hedge funds and developing best-in-class artificial intelligence trading systems meant that we saw firsthand how large the divide is between hedge funds and what farmers have at their disposal today to make informed decisions.
Our vision is to democratise the global commodity trading and financing process with best-in-class technology that is supported by big data and AI.
We have begun on that pathway and are eager to speak to those who are interested in partnering from a strategic development and/or investment perspective.
