Molecular risk assessment of Salmonella in red meat

Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a type of gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella bacteria. It remains a significant public health issue in Australia, and foods of animal origin are most frequently considered to be the source of infection in humans. This project will conduct a molecular risk assessment of Salmonella in red meat in order to prepare for potential changes to regulations in the USA that may impact Australian exporters.

Insights into barriers and bridges to the producer adoption of multi-week and seasonal climate forecasts

The accurate prediction of weather is critical to the success of agricultural industries. This project will investigate farmers' use of multi-week (2-8 weeks) and seasonal climate forecasts (1-6 months) through in-depth interviews with stakeholders from the meat, dairy, grain, wine and sugar industries, to determine ways to increase the uptake of climate information to improve productivity and profitability.
