About Australian Meat Processor Corporation
Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC)'s research, development, and extension (RD&E) supports red meat processors in several different ways, such as solving specific issues, unlocking pathways to new products or processes, creating and refining services, maximising efficiency and reducing the cost to operate. Their approach is about working with insights first, to develop the right research and development, deliver extension to drive whole-of-industry adoption.
AMPC is an industry owned RDC, meaning it is an independent corporate entity with expertise-based boards. The board of AMPC is responsible for and manages the corporate governance practice and constantly updates its policies and procedures based on both independent advice and its own initiatives.
AMPC’s peak industry council, the Australian Meat Industry Council, is the vehicle for processor advocacy and policy development.
AMPC and MLA collaborate where the benefits overlap, by co-investing in R&D projects (e.g. meat quality, traceability). They have distinct levy streams, with processor levies going to AMPC and producer levies going to MLA.
