About LiveCorp
Australian Livestock Export Corporation Ltd (LiveCorp) is the not-for-profit research and service provider for Australia’s livestock export industry. Established in 1998 under the Australian Meat and Livestock Industry Act 1997, LiveCorp delivers research, development, and extension (RD&E) services, as well as technical and marketing support, to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness of the livestock export sector.
LiveCorp is an industry owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC), meaning it is an independent corporate entity with an expertise-based board. LiveCorp invests the levy funds it receives on the export of livestock into RD&E and marketing activities to deliver on its priorities. The key focus areas are animal welfare, supply chain efficiency, market access, training and in-market services.

Startups and scaleups programs
- Livestock Export RD&E Program: a collaboration between LiveCorp and Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), focused on research and development projects aimed at improving animal welfare, supply chain efficiency, and market access within the livestock export industry.
- Open Innovation Pipeline: supports technology partners in designing, trialling, and implementing solutions into the livestock export industry more rapidly than traditional R&D approaches. This initiative encourages the adaptation of existing technologies to address industry challenges.
Industry attributes
Australia’s livestock export industry provides nutrition and food security to its key markets. It increases the ability of other countries to expand their livestock and meat production capacity, as well as fostering business development and employment opportunities, and providing education and training across the whole supply chain.
In 2024, Australia exported a total* of 1,168,281 livestock by sea and air:
- 772,085 cattle
- 430,505 sheep
- 14,249 goats
- 1,442 buffalo
The total value* of livestock exported from Australia in 2024 was approximately $912 million:
- $859 million for cattle
- $44 million for sheep
- $7 million for goats
- $1.4 million for buffalo
